Midterm Assignments 1 & 2

1.) Grasshopper

2.) Landscape painting

Due end of class TODAY: submit a landscape for approval. (ideally needs foreground, midground and background content)

Due May 4th: completed painting, paint in layers!  Arrange layers in groups: foreground, midground background.

Assignment #3, Extraction/Selection

*** Be sure and use a command similar to "Save Image As" to make sure you have the hi-res-image  not the scaled down version ***

Extract the persons/objects/bunnies from the following images.  Use a different method (follow instructions) for each and show work (don't flatten your image), be able to walk me through what you did.

Submit:
Work in one PSD file with each image and layers group the layers required for each, save in your working directory.

1.) select and cut out the screw using the Marquee tool.

2.) Use the pen tool to select the apple (ask instructor to show in class if you don't know how)

3.) change background, keep muscle man
EXTRA CREDIT: cover underwear showing with his shorts.

4.) Paint Mask using the Alpha Channel, mask 4 leaves and change the leaf color using a non-destructive technique

5.) Hair Extraction (difficult), change the background,
Hint: google the refine edge tool
